Platforms

We will transfer your Super8, 8mm, 9.5mm, 16mm, video tapes and slides onto a DVD, a hard drive or even onto your iPhone. Choose DVD if you wish to easily view your films on your television. The hard drive is more appropriate if you wish to edit your films at home with your favourite video editing software.

DVD

DVDThe DVD we use as a digital platform for your transfer is a DVD-R with a storage capacity of 4.7 GB. Our manufacturer, Taiyo Yuden, guarantees the life of their DVDs for more than 30 years when you follow their use and storage recommendations.

DVD-Rs have proved especially appropriate for DVD video applications and for data archiving applications. Their first class surface coating is both water and grease resistant.

Titles

DVDIf your reels or cassettes include titles, please write them on the title sheet, with one title per reel or cassette, then a title for the DVD, keeping in mind that a DVD can hold about 400 meters of Super8 or 8mm film or 90 minutes of video.

The title of the DVD is written on the pocket protector page as well as on the DVD. If your DVD contains several reels or cassettes, the titles will be indicated on the back of the pocket, which corresponds to the numbering of chapters in the DVD menu. This service is included in the base price for digitizing your films.

Saved copy for 6 months

We keep a backup copy of your DVD for a period of 6 months. If you would like another copy, all you have to do is call us or send us an email with the title of the DVD and its series number and we will send it along by post in a few days.

Hard Drive

Hard diskIf you would like to edit your digital films yourself, we advise you to transfer them to a hard drive for the ideal digital editing format. Please note the type of file you want (AVI, MOV) or ask one of our technicians for assistance.

The files on your hard drive are indexed by the series number that we add to your reels or cassettes, with one file created per reel or cassette.

You may send us your own hard drive or get one directly from us.
